This weekend I made mayonnaise in the food processor, under the direction of Chris and Julia Child. I’ve watched Chris make it a few times before, but I am not so good at doing things the first time with an audience, so he got outta the way. I don’t know why I would be embarrassed to fail at making mayonnaise, but there you go.

And then I broke the first attempt; the egg yolks and the oil separated and made a mess of the processor. The second attempt went much better, probably because the first attempt was before Julia’s recipe came on the scene, and I was just yelling questions to Chris in the kitchen. He’s such a patient boy, and he praised me when the second batch came together and was delicious. I don’t know why, but I’m really kind of proud of my mayo making!
